The Morton dōjō was originally headed by Kevin Skoien sensei in 2005. Mr. Skoien moved with his family to Chicago IL, leaving an opening which Joseph Johnston sensei filled by taking charge in 2006. Under Johnston sensei’s leadership the Morton dōjō grew both its kid’s classes and adult classes. Johnston sensei’s first shodan (1st degree black belt), Jake Culbertson, took the reins of the AOK Morton when Walker shihan moved to Texas, before being headed by Tony Johnston sensei.
